The Leroy Maxie Memorial Cross Country Invitational was held at the Oscoda County Fairgrounds Oct. 4. Fairview’s boys’ cross country team placed first against runners from Boyne Falls, Charlton Heston Academy, Hale, Mio Ausable, North Trails and Tawas.

Mio AuSable will play in Whittemore-Prescott tonight.
Fairview’s cross country team, along with Charlton Heston Academy, Hale, Lincoln-Alcona, Mio Ausable, Oscoda, Rogers City and Tawas, belongs to the North Star League. The schools compete against each other in NSL Jamborees, four consecutive Tuesday races.
Mio AuSable’s varsity football team won an away game against Charlton Heston Academy Sept. 19. The game was a nailbiter with Gauge Spitzer scoring the game winning two point conversion for a final score of 22-20.
Fairview’s cross country team started their season Aug. 16 with the Ryan Shay Two Mile Invitational at Charlevoix High School. Nine teams participated in the event.
The Mio-AuSable varsity volleyball team dove into the season with back to back tournaments, along with a quad and tri meet.

The sixth annual Sy Yoder Memorial Golf Outing was held Aug. 23 at Cedar Valley Golf Club in Comins.
