Fairview Area Schools entered what the district termed a hold response following discovery of a written threat on school grounds last week on Wednesday. Classes were canceled for Thursday and Friday as well.
Fairview’s cross country team started their season Aug. 16 with the Ryan Shay Two Mile Invitational at Charlevoix High School. Nine teams participated in the event.

Wellspring Lutheran Services hosted Summer Fest on the grounds of its Fairview nursing facility Aug. 15. Residents of the facility and members of the community celebrated together, enjoying a picnic lunch, live music and all sorts of entertainment.

Clinton Township leads the way into the Independence Day celebrations by presenting fireworks Thursday, July 3 at Skyline Event Center.
Competitors paddled, pedaled and ran the AuSable Valley Triathlon June 14. The race began with one-mile in the kayak on Mio Pond. Cyclists pedaled 11 miles uphill through Huron National Forest to Boney Park in Fairview. The final leg was a three-mile run in the park. Individuals or teams pf two or three compete.
The eighth AuSable Valley Triathlon, a fundraiser for Love INC-Oscoda County, will be held Saturday, June 14.
