Alex Thomas and Friends Puppet Theatre presented an interactive show at the Oscoda County District Library.
“We’re farmers, man – we don’t do anything fast,” said AuSable Valley Engine & Tractor Club President Charlie Stevens. “Right here in the middle of the road we have what we call the ‘Slow Race.’ Point A to point B, the slowest tractor wins.”

Competitors paddled, pedaled and ran the AuSable Valley Triathlon June 14. The race began with one-mile in the kayak on Mio Pond. Cyclists pedaled 11 miles uphill through Huron National Forest to Boney Park in Fairview. The final leg was a three-mile run in the park. Individuals or teams pf two or three compete.
Hundreds of music lovers spent three days “living in the moment” at the 21st annual Nor-east’r Music & Art Festival presented by the AuSable Valley Nor-east’r Association of Folk June 13-15 at the Oscoda County Fairgrounds.
Mio was alive and well this past weekend for the annual Red, White and Blue Collar Festival – two days of fun, food and fundraising.
