Think pink

Mio Thunderbolts are hosting Fairview Eagles for the annual Pink Out volleyball game at Mio AuSable Schools 6 p.m.Oct. 15. The two schools and the whole community join forces in the fight against cancer.

Money raised at the event supports Oscoda County residents receiving treatment at Munson Hospital Cancer Center. The fund assists with utility bills, groceries and childcare and transportation expenses.

Be sure to bid on silent auction items and buy tickets for the 50/50 drawing. Pink Out applesauce was a hit last year and it’s back. The applesauce is cooked, pureed and canned by members of the Mio volleyball program. The team added something new this year – Pink Out cider. Big Poppa’s Kettle Corn will have be selling pink popcorn and a portion of the sales will be donated to Pink Out.

Chemo Blankets are back on the table again this year. For $25, you can sponsor a blanket in honor of someone you love. A sponsor card will be placed in the bag with the blanket and delivered to the cancer and infusion center for patients going through treatment. The entire $25 will be donated to Pink Out and designated for the fund set up at Munson Hospital for residents of Oscoda County fighting cancer.
