Oscoda County varsity boys basketball teams from Fairview Area Schools and Mio AuSable School traveled to Au Gres Feb. 28 to face each other in the district final. Mio Thunderbolts defeated the Eagles 46-25. Mio’s coach Ty McGregor commented on the win.
Five young hunters brought 12 squirrels to Luzerne Hardware for the One Day Youth Squirrel Hunt Feb. 22.
The event takes place between April 19-27, encompassing Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 25).

Mio AuSable varsity girls team secured the North Star League-Little Dipper championship Feb. 13 with a 40-28 victory over Hillman.
Fairview Area Schools celebrated homecoming Feb. 7. During the school day, students competed against each other. The seniors took the top spot in mock Olympics and the freshman class placed first in the lip sync competition.
Mio AuSable’s varsity boys’ basketball team played Atlanta Feb. 7, winning 56-24. After the game, players, coaches, families and fans gathered in the little gym to recognize the basketball careers of seniors Jay Brucher and Jamison Cooper.
When using the trails in the winter months, always remember to walk, snowshoe and fat bike to the side of the cross-country ski track.
