Six Michigan conservation officers led around 30 students, mostly youth, for the inaugural event.

Free school supplies, socks and haircuts were distributed to local youth at the AuSable Inclusion Center last Saturday.

Veterans and community members gathered for an inaugural open house at the Oscoda County Veterans Affairs Office Saturday, Aug. 16. Outside near the veteran’s monument, VA board members cooked hot dogs and a bounce house outfitted with a sprinkler helped a few kids keep cool in the heat of mid-day.

The Oscoda County District Library received resources, tools and information for family caregivers from the Region 9 Area Agency on Aging, as did libraries in Arenac, Ogemaw, Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Otsego, Presque Isle and Roscommon counties.

August signals the return of routine: school bells ringing, fall sports gearing up, and families settling back in after summer adventures. But for hospitals across Michigan, there’s no such thing as a break – the need for blood is constant year-round.

Every Wednesday, the Fairview branch of the Oscoda District Library hosts Sit & Stitch. It begins at 12:30 p.m. There is some wiggle room for when it ends.
