County seeks VSO

The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners accepted a bid for a dump truck at their regular meeting Dec. 10. The board also acknowledged the resignation of Veterans Services Officer A.J. Welser and announced that the county is seeking to fill the position.

Big Creek moves forward with infrastructure plans

The Big Creek Township Board of Trustees agreed to purchase a house and lot in Mio at the Nov. 21 meeting. The property at 408 S. Morenci Avenue is adjacent to other township-owned property which will be developed into a park. The purchase price is $39,900. The board agreed to pay a $1,000 good-faith deposit and authorized Supervisor Randy Booth to sign closing documents. The house will be demolished and the lot will likely be used for parking to serve the future park.

Christmas in Fairview

Comins Township is kicking off the holiday season with its 6th annual Christmas in Fairview Dec. 6, beginning at 4:45 p.m. There will be Christmas open houses with special sales and prize drawings at downtown businesses.
