Jack Bergman’s bill, “Gerald’s Law,” was officially signed into law as a part of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, closing a loophole that denies certain terminally ill veterans their VA burial allowance if they do not pass away at a VA facility.

Oscoda County Area Transit Specialists (OCATS) is a nonprofit organization established to provide transportation, especially for veterans, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Drivers provide door-to-door, round-trip service throughout the state.
When ice and snow make roads difficult to navigate, a countdown sweeps the land. People begin watching and waiting for snow plows, often with rapidly diminishing patience. Then the discussions begin.
Oscoda County is offering a simple way for residents to update their dogâs shots and purchase or renew its license. A vaccination clinic, sponsored by Elk Country Animal Shelter and Dr. Jordan Guy, will be held in two locations Saturday, Jan. 18: 9 a.m.to noon in Fairview at the Firehall, 1947 E. Miller Road and 1 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center in Mio, 305 E. 9th Street.
