Timber harvest is one of the most regenerative dynamics in the Lake States forests. Without disturbance, forests have difficulty regenerating, maintaining vigor, and optimizing habitat conditions. Harvest provides intentional “times and places” for disturbance which, in turn, maximizes the myriad of forest benefits across a landscape.

In the face of a critical shortage of farm labor and ongoing efforts to deport undocumented immigrants, Michigan State University will host the third annual farm labor conference on Nov. 5, 2025, at the Henry Center (3535 Forest Rd., Lansing, MI 48910).
Officials reaffirmed the denial of Public Assistance (PA) Category F funding, which would have supported permanent repairs to damaged utilities, and Individual Assistance (IA), which helps residents with housing and disaster-related losses.
