All you could want in a holiday celebration was found at Christmas in Fairview Dec. 6. What if Jack Frost was nipping at your nose? There was hot chocolate, hot coffee and freshly popped popcorn at the Town Square, hot soup and hot dogs across the street.
Mio Moose Lodge is hosting the annual Lunch with Santa Saturday, Dec. 14, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. This event is for children 10 years old and younger.
Two Michigan State Police vehicles were parked outside Family Fare in Mio Nov. 22 as Troopers encouraged members of the community to help stuff each Blue Goose full of items to help out neighbors in need of a helping hand this holiday season.
Mio Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4126 was established June 10, 1945. It was named for Otis Wellington Henry of Mio.
“He wasn’t even on the [ship] a month when Pearl Harbor was attacked,” VFW Commander Roger Stitt said.
Events and meetings in the area
Winter blew in over Thanksgiving, but kids and their parents bundled up and came to Mio for pre-parade festivities.
