VFW Post 4126 in Mio is selling tickets for a cash 50/50 drawing for its annual fundraiser. Members will be selling tickets Friday, Sept. 26 at Family Fare in Mio from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2025 Backpack Project completed
Backpacks for homeless veterans were filled by members of the Department of Michigan Military Order of Purple Heart Auxiliary Sept. 8. Michigan MOPHA members meet annually at the community center in Mio to prepare the backpacks, filling them with items to give a little comfort to veterans in the coming winter months.
Celebrating autumn
Comins Township hosted its annual Harvest Festival Sept. 13 at Boney Park. Rows of pumpkins were on hand to be painted by youngster. People gathered around the petting zoo to see native and exotic animals. Local musicians provided a soundtrack for the event. Fairview Fire Department set up fire hoses for civilians to try out.
New dates announced for Tai Chi class
“Tai Chi for Better Sleep” is a series of classes sponsored by Michigan State University Extension at the Oscoda Council on Aging Senior Center in Mio. This program combines the benefits of Tai Chi for arthritis and fall prevention and sleep education.
