Wilma (Ream, Ziehl) Thrasher

Died June 10, 2019

Wilma (Ream, Ziehl) Thrasher passed away Monday, June 10, 2019, in Lake Orion after 88 awesome years.

Wilma was born in Roseville. For many years she lived in Mio, both on the hill and on the Au Sable. In retirement, she spent many winters at the Waters Edge RV Resort in Zephyrhills, Fla., with friends and family.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, William and Mearl Ream of Mio; her first husband, Herb Ziehl; her son, Herbie Ziehl; husband, Jack Thrasher; and sister, Shirley Ream.

Wilma is survived by her sons, Bill (Rhonda) Ziehl and Jim (Jen) Ziehl; grandchildren, Nick, Evan and Allie; and sisters, Carolyn Manthei and Margaret Himmler.

Wilma and her family enjoyed many years of running Herb’s Relic & Bottle Shop from their home on the hill. Wilma worked many years as a waitress at Parkway where countless customers became friends. She also spent many years as a caregiver for the elderly, providing a caring, compassionate and homey atmosphere.

Wilma seemed to know everyone everywhere she went, and if she didn’t know you when she walked in she definitely did before either of you left!

A celebration of Wilma’s Life will be held Saturday, July 13, in the Mio Methodist Church at 11 a.m. followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mio United Methodist Church or McLaren Home Care and Hospice.
