Two-vehicle accident on M-33 results in non-life-threatening injuries

COMINS TWP. — A 57-year-old Millington female received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of a two-car accident on M-33 between Knepp and Perry Creek roads in Fairview Nov. 14.

The Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately 10:37 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, a black 2012 Ford pickup pulling a dual-axle utility trailer loaded with slab wood was traveling eastbound on M-33 when it lost control on the slippery snow- and ice-covered road. The trailer fishtailed and traveled into the path of a westbound vehicle, a silver 2012 Chevrolet Impala.

The driver of the pickup, a 43-year-old Atlanta man, was not injured as a result of the accident. The pickup received minor damage, and the trailer was pulled to a nearby area until being safely removed from the area.

The driver of the Impala was transported by the Oscoda County EMS to MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch with non-life-threatening injuries. The Impala was towed from the scene with extensive damage.

Also assisting at the scene were the Michigan State Police Alpena Post, a Department of Natural Resources conservation officer and the Fairview Fire Department.

According to the sheriff’s office, alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and seat belts are believed to have been worn. Airbag deployment was noted on the Impala.

The incident remains under investigation.
