Theater troupe returns to Mio for summer reading program

Posted

MIO — The first major event of the Oscoda County Library’s summer reading program will occur this weekend when the Acting Up Theatre Company returns to perform for participants at the Mio location.

This year the summer reading program theme is “Space: A Universe of Stories.” To go along with that, the theater troupe will be performing “Space for Rent.” Event coordinator Beth Barron said this original play was written by Chad Patterson, who studied under renowned stage director Guy Sanville and will also be acting in the play as part of the troupe.

“His plays have been produced and seen in over 20 counties in Michigan,” Barron said.

Barron said the play is not just for residents to sit and watch; it will contain portions that will ask the audience to participate as well.

The free show will be held at 1 p.m. June 21 at the Mio branch of the Oscoda County Library. The following day the library will also be hosting a plant exchange June 22. For more information about either of the events, call 989-826-3613.
