LUZERNE — A 23-year-old Prescott woman is dead and her infant son is hospitalized after her vehicle collided with a tree in the early morning of July 1.

Oscoda County Sheriff Kevin Grace said at approximately 1 a.m. his department received E911 calls reporting the location of the accident.

Grace said Stephanie Cromwell was traveling northbound on Mapes Road south of Randall Road when her vehicle exited the west side of the roadway and collided with a tree.

When emergency crews arrived the woman was pronounced deceased. Her infant child was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted by Life Net to the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor where he is listed in serious condition.
