Died Feb. 5, 2020


Ronald E. Knott, 73, of Mio, Michigan, entered Heaven on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, to spend eternity with Our Lord and Savior.

Ronald was born in Northville, Michigan on September 24, 1946 to Edward and Lucille (Suchner) Knott. He graduated from Walled Lake High School, then served his country in the U.S. Air Force for two tours in Vietnam as a mechanic. Ron married Dawn Rock on September 29, 1972 in Walled Lake, MI. He worked for and retired from General Motors. He and Dawn moved to Mio in 1987, where they opened Knott’s Dairy Barn. Ron was very active in the VFW, serving as Commander of the Wixom VFW, Post 3952 and Mio VFW, Post 4126, and also served as historian for Mio American Legion Post 348 and as Southeast Michigan District Commander. He enjoyed doing volunteer work for the VFW, hunting, fishing, taking family trips, going to the casino, playing music, painting, woodworking, gardening, and plowing out people’s homes who couldn’t get out. He also loved hanging out with his furry pals, Chewy and Missy. Ron will be missed dearly by his many friends and family in Mio and Walled Lake.

Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dawn; his daughters, Kellie (Jeff) Hett and Jennifer Knott-McEvers; his grandchildren, Dannielle McEvers and Tyler McEvers; and his great-grandchild, Ryker James-LaRoy McEvers. He was preceded in death by his son, James LaRoy in 1997, his sister, Patrice Lynn in 2017, and his grandson, Dylan James in 2019.

Visitation on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 6 – 9 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and again on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10 AM until the Funeral Services at 11 AM with Pastor Ron Janiszewski and Mr. Cletis Bishop officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.
