Ronald Alderman Sr., 83, of Comins passed away at his home Jan. 7, 2018.

Ron was born July 7, 1934, the first of two children of Louis (Virgil) and Eloise Alderman born in Virden, Ill. He grew up in River Rouge, where he graduated from the River Rouge High School while working the midnight shift at Fleetwood Murray Body in Detroit on the assembly line.

After graduating from high school, Ron worked in the electrical apprenticeship program at Great Lakes Steel, among other various skilled trades, until joining the River Rouge Police Department in 1955. He continued as a master electrician running his own business (Alderman Electric) while working as a police officer, until he retired in 1983 from the police department. Ron continued his successful electrical business after moving to Comins in 1983. Alderman Electric remained in business for 27 more years until he was forced to retire due to health issues in 2010.

During his time in Comins, he enjoyed owning and riding horses, hunting, fishing and passing time in the local restaurants at the coffee table solving the world's problems.

He married Lisa Garcia (Alderman) in 1975, and they enjoyed 43 of the most wonderful years of their lives.

Ron is survived by his wife, Lisa; sister, Janice Smith; five children, Ron Jr., Linda, David, Mary and Robert; grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, David Jr., Monica, Bethany, Kellie, Robert Jr. and Dominic; and great-grandchildren, Krystian, Allyssa, Allen, Autumn, Drake and Dylan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, James.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, and on Friday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Mennonite Church, with Pastor Dave Price officiating.
