More Halloween to come

Oscoda County has already been enjoying some annual fall events and traditions as the colors change, and more fun for both adults and kids is in store tonight. Have a safe and happy time!

The Luzerne Chamber of Commerce is holding a trick-or-treating event in Comstock-Nelson Park from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31. Organizer Peggy Smutek said those wishing to hand out candy can come and sit at tables to do so.

The Oscoda County Council on Aging will be hosting a costume contest along with its noon meal of roast beef and mashed potatoes and gravy Oct. 31. A $25 gift card will be awarded for the best costume. Activities Coordinator Rich Lloyd said the senior center is all decorated for the season right now.

On Halloween night in Mio, downtown businesses traditionally open their doors to pass out candy to local children. After a year’s absence, the Mio Dummy Club will also be back serving hot dogs and hot chocolate in front of the Mio Saloon starting at 5:30 p.m.

Also Oct. 31, the AuSable River Restaurant will be hosting a trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m.
