Large swathes of Oscoda County without power


UPDATE 8:44 a.m.: The areas listed in the story are still without power, with the addition of a small area affecting about 33 people on the southern edge of the county just west of M-33, reported at 5:22 a.m.

Restoration times for the large areas have been bumped up to 11:15 a.m. Friday. The small area has a time of 11:30 a.m.

Crews have been assigned to all areas and a cause is not yet listed.

OSCODA COUNTY — Large power outages the night of Halloween are affecting almost 3,700 people in the county and parts of Montmorency and Alcona.

The Consumers Energy outage map shows the power outages affecting an area north of Mio including Elmer Township and extending east to Fairview; an area starting at Fairview and extending north along Abbe Road and into Montmorency County; and an area going east from Fairview to Curran, and south into Mentor Township.

The first listed outage was reported around 10:52 p.m.; the second around 10:03 p.m.; and the third around 9:43 p.m. The status on each is that they are awaiting assessment. For each of them, an estimated restoration time of Friday at 5:15 a.m. has been given.

According to Consumers Energy, the cause is unknown so far.
