Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ (Beuthien) Fredrickson

Died Oct. 8, 2018

Jacqueline “Jackie” (Beuthien) Fredrickson, 53, loving wife, mother and friend, began her eternal life in heaven Oct. 8, 2018. She passed peacefully at home with her family and friends holding her in their arms.

She fought a courageous fight against ovarian cancer and let us all share in her 1 1/2-year journey. She kept most of her struggles private so that many people were unaware of the severity of illness she was battling. Regardless of whether it was a dance or school function with Jenna or a family event, she would adjust her treatments so that she would be feeling well enough to participate. We all loved her and will miss her up until the time we can join her in heaven. Continue the prayers, continue with the hugs and tears. She’s now watching from above.

Jackie was born July 1, 1965, in Detroit to Robert (deceased) and Rose Beuthien. She graduated from East Detroit High School and continued her education at the University of Detroit, where she became a certified dental hygienist in 1988. She worked as a dental hygienist in Dearborn for nearly 17 years before the arrival of her daughter Jenna. After taking a few years off to be with Jenna, she worked a short time in Shelby Township before working another 17-plus years in Birmingham. Each of these jobs resulted in friendships that are as close as family.

As she began her professional career, she met and married David J.A. Fredrickson on Nov. 10, 1990. On July 24, 2000, they welcomed home their adopted daughter Jenna Isabella Fredrickson. Jackie devoted her life to supporting her husband and nurturing her daughter. She became heavily engaged with social and charitable organizations by becoming the president of her neighborhood association and then the social chair responsible for running Halloween parades, Easter egg hunts and the neighborhood picnics that were hosted in her backyard. Once Jenna began her school years, Jackie stepped up in support by becoming a PTA president, room mom and dance team co-president and many other volunteer positions along the way. She had broad shoulders and never shied away from a challenge.

Jackie is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Jenna; mother, Rose Beuthien; and brother, Jeff Beuthien. She is the loving sister-in-law of Diane (Juan) Villa, Tina (Vern) Lanczak, Patty (Kerry) Younker, Dawn Fredrickson (Doug Wiggins) and Cheryl (Jason) Edberg; favorite aunt to Olivia, Rachel, Haley, Abby, Emily, Ryan, Brady and Wyatt; and daughter-in-law of Carol and Norman Fredrickson.

Funeral Mass was Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Troy.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
