Donna D. Stopczynski, 88, of Mio passed away at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019.

Donna was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on Jan. 12, 1931, to Harold and Elsie (Shepley) Fryer. She married Stan Stopczynski on Sept. 3, 1955, in Windsor. The couple moved to Hamtramck, and remained in the Detroit area until retiring in 1993 to the family home in Mio that they had owned since 1984. She worked as a homemaker, raising her children and being active in their school activities. Donna had enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a great cook.

Donna is survived by her husband, Stanley of Mio; her children, Kathleen (Dale) Norgan of Brockway and Michael (Valory) Stopczynski of Acworth, Ga.; four grandchildren, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Solomon and Kira; and two great-grandchildren, Shalom and Alexander. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Fryer; her special niece, Charlotte; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Stanley, Shirley, Howard and Raymond.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Windsor, Canada.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church, P.O. Box 189, Mio, MI 48647.
