Carol A. "Gram" Slater, 80, of Mio passed away at her home Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Carol was born in Pontiac on Jan. 19, 1938, to Zane and Virginia (Ewald) Pierce. She moved to Red Oak in 1977 and settled in Mio in 1985. Carol was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio, and also “Thursday Night Dominos” with the girls. She enjoyed her family and playing games.

Carol is survived by her children, Mark (Mickey) Stillwell of Clinton Township, Beth Gonzales of Mio, Brian Stillwell of Lincoln, Neb., Lynn (Korky) Lincoln of Interlochen, Dale (Beth) Stillwell of Madison, Ohio, and Steven (Amy) Stillwell of Mio; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William Edward Stillwell and Willis Melvin Slater; her son, Allen; her brother, Roy; and her sister, Marge.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 9-11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father Santiago Hoyumpa as celebrant. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the Mass. Interment of ashes will take place at Luzerne Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Shrine Restoration Fund or to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital.
