Alvin Edward Poster, 87, of Luzerne passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at his residence.

Alvin was born in Detroit on Sept. 7, 1930, a son of the late Cecilia (Beaufait) and John Poster. He served in the U.S. Navy. Alvin worked as a pipefitter for General Motors Chevrolet Spring and Bumper Plant in Livonia, retiring in 1985. He settled in Luzerne in 1986. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Mio Moose Lodge and the Luzerne American Legion Post.

He is survived by his children, Terry L. (Sue) Poster of Livonia, Loraine K. (Steve) Kovarik of Luzerne and Cheryl L. (Kirk) Schooley of Pinckney; sisters, Virginia, Loraine and Theresa; brothers, Donald and James; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Poster; and girlfriend, Betty Jo Sanders.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
