Tammy R. (Maurer) Emig

Tammy R. (Maurer) Emig of Comins, Michigan passed away February 4, 2023, at the age of 64 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City surrounded by her family.

Tammy is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Ted A. Emig; her sons Joshua R. (Amanda) Emig, and Michael E. Emig; and her precious granddaughter, Ruby R. Emig. She is also survived by her loving sisters Dawn Harrison and Laurie Devol and two brothers. Tammy will be sorely missed by her niece Amanda Devol (Mandi) whom she referred to as her summer daughter. Tammy also leaves behind her in-laws: Stuart (Sue) Emig, Mona (Carey) Lee, and Marshall Emig, along with many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Tammy was born February 20, 1958, in Flint, Michigan to Earl T. Maurer and Joan C (Damon) Maurer. She graduated from Brown City Community Schools in 1976 and moved Died February 4, 2023 to Comins. It was then that she started dating Ted and they got married on May 2, 1977. After seven years as an Air Force wife, which took her to Korea and Dayton, Ohio, Tammy and Ted settled down in Comins to raise their children.

Tammy was proud of her community and was involved in many of the local activities including Open Mike. Tammy also sat on many boards and committees — the Steiner Museum, the Historical Commission, the Oscoda County Library, the Oscoda County Council on Aging, and the Oscoda County Department of Health and Human Services, to name a few.

Tammy was an Oscoda County Commissioner for 12 years, and a mediator for Community Mediation Services for many years, where she served as president from 2016-2018.

Tammy has left a legacy of volunteerism and supporting her community that few can match. She will be missed by the many people whose lives and hearts that she has touched during her life.

Visitation was Friday, February 10, from 5–8 p.m. at Lashley Funeral Home, in Mio and Saturday, February 11 at the Comins Community Church in Comins, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at noon. Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiated. Interment at Clinton Township Cemetery, Comins.
