Patricia Ann (Duvall) Thomas, age 82, died Thursday, December 2, 2021, due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born February 11, 1939, and was raised in Ida, Michigan.
She graduated from Ida High School in 1956. After high school, she attended Cleary College and then worked briefly at Ransom & Randolph in Toledo, Ohio before becoming the wife of the new young minister called to serve the dual parishes of St. Mark and St. Matthew in Ida, Michigan. She married Rev. Don F. Thomas October 14, 1961, and together they raised three children. She served on Altar Guild, the Women of the Church, and as Vacation Bible School and Sunday School teachers. She was always involved in her family’s activities; as Cub Scout Leader, Band Booster, and was an original member of the Monroe Antique Car Klub. She shared her love of reading as the Ida Elementary School librarian for 12 years and also worked as an election clerk for Ida. She and Don retired first to Mio, Michigan, where they became fixtures at both Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Rose City and St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, Mio. They were members of the Gardening Club of Mio and enjoyed working on her garden railroad together. The garden railroad, along with her coy pond, were attractions for their many friends’ grandchildren, especially the Amish who would often stop by to let their children play with the train. In December of 2006, they returned to Don’s hometown of Brighton, Michigan, where they were members of Don’s home parish, St. George Lutheran Church. Pat was a supportive wife, mother, and grandmother, possessing a fun-loving spirit, down-to-earth perspective, and unconventional wisdom.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Tacy, Wixom and two sons Jeffrey (Mary) Thomas, Lambertville, and Paul (Catherine) Thomas, Maumee, OH; four grandsons, Aaron Tacy, NY, Garrett Tacy, Wixom, Andrew Thomas, Toledo and Nathan Thomas, Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin (Tom) & Julia Duvall; her brother Richard Duvall; her sister, Lorraine Duvall; and her husband of 59 years, Rev. Don F. Thomas.
Funeral services for Patricia have already taken place.
