Norman L. Detrich, 82, of Mio, MI, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services, Fairview, Michigan.
Norman was born in St. John, KS on September 28, 1938 to Ivan Rhea Detrich and Amy Jane Gates.
His early employment years were spent in the oil/gas industry in Kansas and Ohio. He eventually moved to Michigan. He was a real estate broker, owning Detrich Real Estate, since 1978. He married Mary Lou Marsh on May 4, 1986 in Mio, Michigan.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Mary Lou; daughters, Diana Jo (Garry) Stevens, Great Bend, KS, Darci (Donnie) Bell, Crossville, TN, Nancy (Bob) Jones, Mio, MI; sons, David Detrich, Arizona, Lynn Miller, Mio, MI and Steve (Beverly) Miller, Tullahoma, TN and many grand and great-grand and great-great grandchildren.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Detrich; 16 half brothers and sisters; son, Daniel Detrich; and so many good friends.
He was involved with many charities/volunteer organizations including: Mio Lions Club, Moose Club, Ducks Unlimited, Comins Eagles, Luzerne American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
His hobbies and interests include: being an avid hunter and fisherman, riding on the tractor and golf cart around his ponds, growing his trees and tomatoes, working with his Amish friends, shopping for groceries (and filling his cart to the top) and cooking, especially with hot sauces!
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
