Norma L. Selinski

Died April 2, 2021

Mrs. Norma L. Selinski, 74, of Mio, Michigan died peacefully at Munson Healthcare Hospital in Grayling, Michigan on April 2, 2021. She was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her husband, Carl.

Norma was born on September 28, 1946 in Melvindale, Michigan to the late Clare Dingman and Doris Nealey. She worked for Glen’s Supermarket for 17 years as a cashier and for 14 years as a foster grandma at Mio AuSable School, a job in which she thoroughly enjoyed. Norma was a member of the foster grandma program. She was a quintessential foster grandparent and leader among her peers. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge 1035. Norma loved her two children, Kimberly and Ryan, more than anything in the world and was Kimberly’s biggest supporter after she suffered and survived from a stroke. Norma was a fierce woman, full of spunk, mischief and laughter. She was a loving woman willing to help out anyone and loved to crochet baby blankets for expecting mothers. She was the epitome of selflessness. She enjoyed cooking, potting plants, crocheting and spending time with her grandson. She was an amazing mother with a lady’s grace, a loving soul who was a grandma to all children she met, and a mentor to all those who knew her. Norma will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Stitt of Mio and Ryan (Bly) Stitt of Rosebush; grandson, Cedar Stitt; as well as many adopted children throughout the school; sisters, Doris Lynch of Springfield Missouri and Linda Powers of Auburn Hills; and brother, Wayne Lynch of Fillmore Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clare Dingman and Doris Nealey; husband, Carl Selinski; and brother, Lee Rister.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mio; at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 with Reverend Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. Interment of ashes at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
