Mary S. Jantzi, 89, passed away from this earth to Heaven on July 21, 2020 while in the Wellspring Nursing Home in Fairview, Michigan. She was born December 11, 1930 to Aaron and Fannie (Stoltzfus) Jantzi, the eldest of five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; their youngest child, Wilbur (born in 1942) and a sister, Alma (born in 1936).
Mary cleaned many homes in the Mio and Fairview area, but the sweetest experience came when she worked for the Dr. Wolf family in Flint, Michigan. She especially enjoyed helping Dr. Wolf prepare the food for their family celebrations, such as bar mitzvahs for the three sons, and the bat mitzvah for Andrea, the daughter, as well as for the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Andrea and Mary became close friends and regularly corresponded through later years. Andrea always sent Mary a special Christmas gift, often a nice jacket or sweater. Through the later years, Mary was always welcome at their big family reunions.
Mary loved to travel with a group of friends who made excursions into many U.S. states; sight-seeing, cooking outdoors and camping.
Mary was a devoted member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. She quilted at the WMSA meetings and made many comforters to help the needy around the world.
We thank you, Mary, for the special contributions you made for the betterment of the world. Farewell to a dear sister-by Edith.
Graveside Services were held at Kittle Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020.
