Wilson’s recount results in no change

MIO — The recount Oscoda County Commissioner Larry Wilson applied for has resulted in no change, and Chuck Varner is still set to take his spot come the new year.

County Clerk Jeri Winton said both candidates were present for the recount, and there was no bad blood during or after.

“Once the recount was started everybody was very friendly and nice,” Winton said. “Any time a question was raised we got it answered with no issues.”

Overall the recount cost the county slightly less than $500. The recount was done in the community center and it did not cost the county anything to use the facility.

Wilson will not have the money he paid to the county for the recount returned, as there was no change in the three townships.

Winton said the recount has confirmed the efficacy of the new election equipment, and she is glad it is as accurate as she’d hoped.
