Breaking News: Courthouse work progresses after commissioners receive update from insurance company

First hint of progress this year toward county building construction

Posted

MIO — The county will be able to move toward construction of its new courthouse after commissioners recently received communications from the county’s insurance company.

Commission Chairman Kyle Yoder said the board has received a general list of items that its insurance company does not believe it should pay for. He said this is a significant step that will allow the county to begin to negotiate terms and have Wolgast begin to look for subcontractors.

Yoder said the list the commissioners received was very general, and he did not list any specific items that the insurance company pointed out. He said this is only the first list the county will receive, and a more specific one is to come. He said Wolgast is working with the county in order to help it negotiate terms with the insurance company.

Yoder said communications have improved on all fronts, and that he now believes all parties involved want to have this resolved as soon as possible.

Yoder said the commissioners will have more information to provide at the Feb. 12 county meeting. He said his hope is for Wolgast to soon begin looking for subcontractors in order to begin construction as soon as possible.
