1,480 Oscoda County residents still without power

OSCODA COUNTY –– Following strong winds Dec. 4-5 that knocked out power to more than one-quarter of Oscoda County residents, a large number of residents remain without power.

Approximately 1,636 of Consumers Energy customers were without power Tuesday, Dec. 5. As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, approximately 1,410 out of 6,431, or 21.9 percent, are still without power, according to the outage map. Approximately 70 Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op customers are still without power at this time as well, according to that company’s outage map.

The outage maps showed the largest lingering outage is affecting customers in Big Creek Township, where there are 948 customers without power, and it is expected to be restored at 12:15 p.m. Dec. 6. A smaller outage area is affecting customers in Mentor Township, where there are 78 customers without power. It is expected to be restored at 11 p.m. Dec. 6.

Power was fully restored to the Roscommon Community Health Center, Grayling hospital, Grayling Community Health Center, Grayling Surgical Services, and AuSable Urology Dec. 5, at approximately 2:50 p.m.

Several other smaller outages are also spread out throughout the county, which are still awaiting assessment by Consumers Energy.
