Since the road commision has repaved 72, I have been through 2 windshields. Many county residents have had rocks thrown from passing vehicles hitting the others windshield. Due to the rocks that come loose or stuck in the middle of the road. I had my windshield for a month and now is cracked all across the center. This is absolutely rediculous. Who can't afford to keep replacing windshields these days.
Instead of plowing roads with no snow on them, how bout taking a sweeper every now and then to collect the loose rocks from there cheap repavement project that is costing the county hundreds of dollars.
Im sure auto repair shops are loving it.This is the worst repavement I've ever seen. And something seriously needs to be done about it.
Or how about we send all our windshield bills to the road commision to pay for. Bet that wouldn't happen!
People are struggling to survive now, is this their way of getting more money from us...wrong!!!

M-DOT takes care of M-72. Not Oscoda County.
But thanks for noting the shoddy work done.
And you should know the state won't pay for it w/o permission from the Union.
There actually is a claim process for damage. And Michigan Dept. of Transportation is well aware of the problem on M 72. The phone # at MDOT is 989 356 2231. I received my claim form today.
3 of my family members also have windshield damage. Go to the MDOT website www.michigan.gov/mdot
from there you can download a claim form ,and do as I did e-mail the director of MDOT. I also copied it to the governors office. Maybe if they both get enough e-mails something will be done.
I am from Georgia but I use to live in Mio and my family are from Mio and live on M72 and I also had a rock fly up from a passing car and chipped my windshield when I was home at Christmas. I never realized that there had been so many problems with the road but i commented to my husband what a terrible job they did on the road when they repaved it. I went and downloaded the claim form and wish me luck because I am not sure how they deal with someone from out of town.
