CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Several turkeys were released to their native habitat Tuesday, Feb. 14, on state forest property north of Mio, near County Road 610 and Bailey Road. According to Keith Fisher, a senior wildlife technician with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, 21 turkeys were imported to Oscoda County, with 18 of them from Berry County and three from Ionia County. more

LUZERNE — The Luzerne chapter of the Chamber of Commerce for Oscoda County, along with the Luzerne Fire Department, organized a bonfire that took place at a piece of land off of Klimmek Road on Saturday, Jan. 28. Hot dogs, chili, and hot chocolate were served at the bonfire. more
MIO — Teams from the Mio AuSable school and the Oscoda County Sheriff Department competed in a benefit basketball game Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Mio gym. Proceeds are earmarked for the River House Shelter, Inc., in Grayling. more
LEWISTON — Downtown Lewiston was filled with people ready to watch the start of this year's Sno*Drift Rally on Friday, Jan. 27. The rally was scheduled to last through Saturday, Jan. 28. more

FAIRVIEW — Guests gathered at the Karefree Ranch in Fairview on Friday, Dec. 30, to take their turn participating in a series of horse-drawn rides. Refreshments were also served at the event, with proceeds benefiting the Oscoda County Michigan State University Extension. more
